JOB SUMMARY

Desktop Support Engineers are IT support specialists that assist internal users and clients with hardware and software issues. Their job is to provide on-site or remote technical assistance including the setting up of computer hardware systems, installing and upgrading software, and troubleshooting basic IT issues. They’re also responsible in the timely and effective resolution of help desk requests and tickets.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

▪ Regularly check and Address user tickets regarding hardware, software and networking.
▪ Walk internal & external customers through installing applications and computer peripherals.
▪ Ask targeted questions to diagnose problems.
▪ Guide users with simple, step-by-step instructions.
▪ Troubleshooting hardware and software, networking and connection issues with concerned IT teams.
▪ Test alternative pathways until you resolve an issue.
▪ Conduct remote troubleshooting not limited to site of assignment.
▪ Customize desktop applications to meet user needs.
▪ Responding to client support requests.
▪ Providing basic training in computer operation and management
▪ Completing job reports and ordering supplies.
▪ Creates documentation for problems resolved for future reference.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications include:
▪ College graduate of any IT related courses
▪ At least 1 to 2 years of work experience in the same field
▪ Advanced knowledge of computer hardware systems, chipsets, memory modules, and peripherals
▪ Knowledge of popular operating systems, software applications, and remote connection systems
▪ Ability to solve complex hardware and software issues
▪ Ability to travel and work after hours when necessary
▪ Excellent interpersonal skills
